& Sketch
All pencil portraits are on high-grade cartridge paper in standard sizes for easy, off the shelf framing (framing is not included but you don't need to go the bespoke route if you don't want to, helping minimise costs). I don't use computer 'sketch filters' or digital prints with a touch of pencil over the top. This is original, pure pencilwork on paper from start to finish, reflecting my craft, love, care and time.
What do I need to do?
Decide on the size. The most popular Sizes are A4 and A3 but I do go larger and as small as A5.
Send through the highest resolution digital file of your favourite images so I can ensure there is enough detail to work from. Ideally avoid teeth in smiles and strong shadows, I can only reproduce the quality I'm given to start with. I will then send you through a very basic mock-up of the composition - especially if the subjects are from different images, for your approval before we begin. I will keep you updated with the progress.
Once you've approved the finished image, it will be fixed (to avoid any smudging or transfer,) packed safely and securely against mount board, wrapped and sealed in a cellophane sleeve and sent recorded delivery to ensure it arrives safe and sound or there is the option to pick up if you are local.
How long does it take?
Allow 7-10 days ideally for finished single portraits and 14 days for double portraits. More subjects take 2 - 3 weeks depending on the detail required but this will also depend on my workload. It may also be possible to get them quicker and if you have a deadline, be sure to let me know and I'll do my best.
Can I get copies?
Yes, but only through me as I hold the copywrite to my work however, I wouldn't want other friends and family members to miss out. Fine art giclee copies (the highest professional prints available on acid free archival paper with colour fast inks) of the original artwork can be arranged upon completion at extra cost. Please let me know before the original is shipped so I can arrange a digital file to be used at a later date and sent directly to the printers should it be required.
How much does it cost?
50% payment is required to secure a place in the diary with the remainder due upon completion. NB - flexible payment plans also available - please ask for details P&P extra.
(If you'd like a portrait done but this doesn't fit your budget, get in touch anyway as there is also a 'pay what you can afford' option if you really love the work, aren't on a deadline and I am not swamped. Ideally, I believe art should be for everyone.)
NB: I own the copywrite to all my artwork and will normally use it for social media but should you not be happy with this, please let me know at the time of booking. I am careful to be discreet and will not use anything of a sensitive nature.
